Better Together

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity (Psalm 133:1). I read this repeatedly one morning and I couldn’t help but reflect on the Christian women I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and forming friendships with here in Pittsburgh.
There’s been encouragement, sympathy, laughter, and advice. There’s simply been a comradery that is reassuring and comforting. Some have always had a personal relationship with Jesus and others (like myself) have only recently found it. There is a constant acknowledgment and awareness of how we’re trying our best at anything we set out to do, but we also recognize that we are in constant need of His grace. We feel comfortable enough to share our shortcomings, our opinions, our goals, and our lessons learned; all with one purpose: to help each other grow in Christ.
I leave any interaction – whether a short catch up or a lengthy gathering – feeling reenergized. It must be a powerful meeting when a tired and overwhelmed mom of 3 manages to find the energy! Hah. How beautiful is it that women can come together, all from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and still feel united simply because of their love for Jesus? 1 Peter 3:8 tells us to be like-minded, to be sympathetic, to love one another, to be compassionate, and to be humble. Each one of those statements describes the sentiments that we provide to each other, but that last word stands out because without humility the connection simply wouldn’t work.
I am a blessed woman to have found these ladies in my life and it’s a testament to Proverbs 27:17 that tells us “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
I hope that you are able to find those people in your lives to sharpen you!

Bio: A few years ago I began to take in, appreciate, and value all of the roles in my life and what each of those entails. What are those? I am a believer in Jesus Christ who is thankful for His unending grace, a wife to the love of my life, a stay at home mom to 3 sweet kids, an only child to amazing parents, a friend to some pretty special people, and most recently a Coach with Beachbody! In an effort to share these life roles I felt led to write! Each role has come with a little here and a little there of different kinds of experiences, thoughts, opinions, and lessons learned (those aren’t always fun, eh?) Each of these vary from being serious, light-hearted, fun, and some pretty boring (haha), but all very real. You see, our lives are made up of a ton of tiny moments that make up a GREAT story, ours!
