What do tantrums and dirty dishes have in common?

As I sit here, coffee in hand, watching my little man sleep with thumb in mouth laying with his knees up to his chest I'm reminded that there is peace in the quiet moments of motherhood giving us time to stop, think and breath, even if the moment doesn't last long! Sitting here my mind wonders to the thoughts of, do we truly understand the importance of motherhood?

I know, I know take a moment from the thoughts of cleaning, doing laundry, MORE DISHES that I swear keep piling up by the minute, cooking, and having playtime with little man, do I (or we as mothers) truly realize that we have been called to show this little guy before me love, patience and the love of Christ? I have read several books that talk about this but do I truly get it and suddenly I get it (insert little bell going off like in the cartoons)!

Time and time again, I fell like Christ looks down upon me and says, WOW LINDSEY you really screwed up again and lost your cool, NOPE, He says it''s okay Lindsey, I hung on that tree 2,000 years ago and have these holes in my hands, feet and side for you, I forgive you. What a wonderful example we have for our children to set. I know that I will never ever, ever be able to be like Christ 100%  but I can strive to take on his characteristics of love, patience, kindness, grace and forgiveness and show them to my sons.

So when I'm tempted to be upset because one of them is throwing another temper-tantrum and I have no idea why because well one doesn't talk yet, then I can say LORD, I need some help down here to show your love, help me be an example of your love toward me in the moment, I know that he will meet me in my request. As Phil. 4:6-7 says, "...let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

My prayer today is that God will meet you in that moment and show you his love and that His Spirit will embrace your every thought and action today. Galatians 6:8-9, " ...the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life, And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season  we will reap, if we do not give up." To my mommy's out there you are the sowers of your children, don't give up, I promise you can make it, God is beside you every step of the way!
